Most recently, the opening of a new architectural monument in the city of Shanghai (China). It became the five-star Shimao Hotel, located in an abandoned quarry at a depth of 88 meters. The project planning and construction took almost 12 years.

As soon as the first news appeared that China planned to build a hotel at a depth of 88 meters, they immediately succumbed to heated discussion.

To some this seemed completely impossible, but today each of us can contemplate a luxurious hotel located in an abandoned quarry.

The dimensions of the Shimao Hotel are really impressive: 337 rooms and 20 floors, 18 of which are underground. 2 floors are completely under water, which makes the hotel even more fabulous.

The hotel has a rich infrastructure: a large conference room and a hall for organizing events, outdoor swimming pools, as well as in the building. The hotel has an amusement park that will not let you get bored not only for children but also for adults.

During the planning of the hotel, many innovative environmental decisions were also made. For example, solar energy is used to illuminate rooms, and ventilation is carried out by cooling the air with water.
