We choose materials for the roof and gutter

To find the best option, you will need to deal with the features of these materials and consider a number of their features. We choose between materials “Shinglas” and “Katepal” for roofing, metal or plastic - for gutters.

Shinglas or Katepal - choose a roof by weight, price, size

Shinglas is a soft roof, which is characterized by sufficient strength and can perform its functions at temperatures from -25 to +40 C. The dimensions of one sheet are 100x31.7 cm, and the thickness is 3.8 mm. This material is sold in the form of packages, each of which allows you to cover 3 m2 of roofing. The weight of one such kit is up to 25 kg. Installation is carried out by tape gluing followed by mechanical fixation to the crate. The price of one square of the material is in the range of 170-180 rubles per m2.

The second material - Katepal, is an analogue of the first, but has several differences. The dimensions of the sheets are the same, but the thickness is 0.8 mm less. Obviously, the mass of the material will be less. The difference between these two coatings is 1 kg: Katepal's package weighs 24 kg, and one square of the coating is 8 kg. Installation is carried out without the use of tape, since only glue and roofing nails are needed here. The cost of one package of material is 450 rubles, so the average price of 1 m2 does not go beyond 150 rubles.

Summing up the above, we note that from the point of view of practicality, it is worth choosing the Katepal material, since with practically equal operational characteristics it has a slightly lower weight and lower cost.

Gutters: plastic care or metal protection?

We also consider the features of both types of waste systems. The use of metal allows to obtain higher strength, resistance to temperature, but it is afraid of corrosion. Typically, such structures already have additional protection in the form of paintwork or galvanizing. The cost of the finished system will be about 8 thousand rubles.

metal and plastic gutter

Plastic is lightweight, and its life is quite large, however, some care is required here. For example, you need to remove the formed ice in order to avoid destruction of the pipe. A plastic construction will cost 5-6 times cheaper than a metal product.

Obviously, ceteris paribus, it is more profitable to use plastic, but it has one weak point - the need for maintenance. Otherwise, it will be necessary to install equipment to remove ice from the roof, which means that part of the costs will be borne by the drain.
