DIY acrylic bathtub installation

The ease of installation of an acrylic bath is ensured by the ease and plasticity of the product. But with self-assembly, it must be borne in mind that acrylic is a fragile material, therefore, if improperly installed, the frame from it can burst. To avoid this, make sure that in the process of working on the acrylic surface do not fall tools and other heavy objects.

Mounting options

There are several options to fix the acrylic bath. The easiest way is to install it on metal legs. To do this, they are attached to the body with self-tapping screws. This method cannot be called reliable, since only the bottom will be stable, and the edges will remain without supports. At the same time, a bottom deflection is observed if a large load is applied to it.

Having figured out how to install an acrylic bath with your own hands, it becomes clear that 3 ways are more reliable:

• when the product is installed on a metal frame from a pipe, which is attached to the kit;
• on brickwork;
• combining metal legs with brickwork.

The best mounting option is to rely on a metal frame, but it is not always included.

Installation on a metal frame

The metal frame is a frame. Also for installation you will need studs, racks, legs and nuts. Do-it-yourself installation of an acrylic bathtub on the frame consists of the following steps:

1. The bath turns over; a frame is placed on its bottom.
2. Studs are inserted into the corner parts of the frame. One side is screwed into the rack, and the other is fixed with a nut. The rack abuts against the protruding sides of the bath.
3. After checking the entire system by level, it needs to be strengthened. The frame is attached to the reinforced bottom of the bath, and the racks - to its edges to the same height.
4. It remains to collect the plastic legs, which are inserted into special holes in the frame and nuts are adjustable in height.

The configuration of the bathtubs can be different, but angular, round or irregular shape designs are installed only on the metal frame.

Brick support

Brick support is done in two ways. The first option: it is carried out on 2 edges and corners, which are mounted along the contour of the wall. For this, bricks, cement mortar and metal profile are prepared. The procedure is as follows:

1. The corners are fixed along the wall contour; the upper edges of the bathtub will be supported on them.
2. Stacked 2 brickwork, which will be based on the bottom.
3. After the solution has solidified, silicone glue is applied to the corner and a bath is installed.

In parallel, assembly of legs, which also perform a supporting function, is allowed.

The second installation method is carried out without corners. The installation procedure is as follows:

1. Solid masonry under the whole bottom.
2. After the solution solidifies, 2 guides are laid on the laid out part.
3. A bowl is placed on top so that there remains a gap of 1 cm wide.
4. This space is blown up by foam.

Siphon assembly and sealing process

Further, a siphon is connected to the outlet. To do this, the following actions are carried out:

1. A grate is inserted into the top of the bath hole.
2. Bottom is installed seal.
3. The assembled siphon is brought to the bottom, the whole system is pulled together by a bolt.
4. The hose leaving the siphon is inserted into the sewer.

At the last stage, all joints must be sealed. Silicone will not be enough. To eliminate gaps There are 2 ways:

1. A special tape is purchased. A sealant is applied to one side of it.The strip is glued so that half the width lies on the wall, and the second part on the sides. It turns out not only a tight seam, but also an aesthetic appearance.
2. At the joints, corners are installed, equipped with rubber gaskets. Before installation, part of the wall and the edges of the bathroom are degreased. Then a sealant is applied to this surface.

Installation of an acrylic bath can be done with your own hands. It is important to adhere to the chosen technology.

If the kit includes a metal structure, then be sure to use it. In its absence, it is necessary to form a brickwork.
