Today, many craftsmen prefer to make home furniture with their own hands. Someone collects it from separately purchased blanks. And some do the work on their own, starting with blanks for bunks and ending with its full assembly. Before you make the product yourself, it is advisable to study the recommendations of specialists, draw a detailed drawing and draw up an action plan.

Features of wood furniture
The main issue that future bed owners have to solve is the selection of material and design.
Today, furniture is very popular, for the manufacture of which solid wood is used.
According to the design, the beds available for self-production can be:
- Single beds. They are made for sleeping one person.
- Double. They are usually installed in large bedrooms.
- Bunk. Most often, a self-made double-decker bed made of timber is installed in a children's room to save space. It consists of 4 racks connected by two boxes of boards with transverse stiffeners on which mattresses are laid.
In-house bed
The tree used for making beds is an original, environmentally friendly material that is easy to process, and workpieces made from it are quickly assembled into a specific structure.
In addition, when combined with other materials, it allows you to assemble a strong and durable antique bedroom structure.
Production Materials
Most often, for the manufacture of bedroom furniture, wooden furniture panels, timber, chipboard or solid wood are used. These materials can be combined with each other, as well as with metal, plastic and glass:
- Timber structure. It is impossible to do without this material in the manufacture of a bunk bed for a children's bedroom. The product significantly saves space in the room, leaving plenty of space for children's games and the installation of other types of home-made furniture.
- Board bed It is popular because of the low cost of the project and ease of manufacture. To build a frame, for example, a two-story bed, experts recommend the additional use of squared material. And use boards as partitions for berths.
- Furniture panels. These are wood lamellas glued together (high-grade veneer). Shields practically have the same advantages as an array, but a bed is much cheaper than a product made of solid wood.
- Solid wood. A quality bed is human health. It should positively affect the general condition after sleep. The owner experiences a wooden bed with an orthopedic mattress. When making in-house, an environmentally friendly material is used: ash, pine, oak and alder.
Manufacturing recommendations
You should pay attention to some individual points:
- In order for the same structural elements to be as identical as possible, one part should be made and used as a reference for the rest.
- In the manufacture of carved wooden billets, it is desirable that all sharp edges be slightly rounded.
- The connection of the elements should not only consist of fasteners in the form of self-tapping screws, glue and screws, but also include locks of the "tongue-and-groove" type.
If necessary, it is recommended to strengthen the bed frame with metal corners.
Assembling a bed for sleeping or other wooden furniture, even when using a home-made, but fairly well-composed drawing, does not present any difficulties.
