There is no way to completely protect the carpet from dirt, but we can influence it to get dirty a lot less. You don’t need to walk on it barefoot, close the dog in the corridor, and let guests in only in socks.
It is enough to make sure that there is a good-quality shoe mat in front of the door (and often clean it), put a container under the dirty shoes in the hallway, and thoroughly wipe the dog’s legs after a walk. It does not hurt to regularly vacuum the apartment, and immediately remove stains from the floor.

Very good effects are given by the old home way of cleaning carpet with sauerkraut. Finely squeeze (but not dry) cabbage finely chopped and spread on the surface of the carpet, gently rub, and then after half an hour we collect with a brush or hands. The remaining small pieces are removed with a vacuum cleaner. After this procedure, the color of the carpet is restored.

This is a traditional method of keeping the carpet clean. Thanks to this, we get rid of dust, which has already penetrated deeply into the structure of the pile. After knocking out the carpet, you need to vacuum it in order to remove dust that has settled on the surface.
The old way to knock carpets in the winter on snow is very effective. Snow must be dry so that it does not wet the carpet. We lay the carpet on the snow pile down and knock out. Dust settles in the snow and the carpet is thoroughly cleaned.

Stains should be removed from the cover or carpet immediately so that they do not penetrate deep into the fabric, causing discoloration. We pour out the liquid, dry it with a paper towel, collect more dense dirt, for example, with a flat knife.
Gently remove the remaining stain with a cloth using the correct stain removers. Care should be taken not to damage the fibers. We clean from the edge to the center - this way you can avoid increasing the stain.
