How to determine which outlet is needed for the hydrobarrier, if it protrudes from the eaves and whether it is necessary to wind it to the gutter?
You can deal with the film in different ways, because it all depends on the design of the eaves of the roof and other factors. For example, the type of roof: when using a metal tile, rolled metal or another option, which is characterized by the formation of condensate, it is best to bring the film into the gutter.
Causes of Problems
Metal roofs are the most problematic case. due to the fact that much more condensation is collected here than anywhere else. If you plan to use corrugated sheets, for example, Ondulin or piece tiles, then the film is also displayed in the gutter. The exception is shingles, the laying technology of which allows not to remove the material insulating from moisture in the drain trough.
In the event that the house has a gable roof, and the tile itself is laid very carefully, snow can still appear under the cover. It will gradually thaw, which means that water will need to be diverted. In the case of shingles, there is no similar problem, because it is a real monolith combined with a crate. The difficulty is not the need for a conclusion, but the fact that the film itself is very difficult to get into the gutter. It itself is at an angle of 3 mm per meter, so at the top point the runoff will be slightly higher than the film, and at the bottom it will be much lower.
Solutions
There are several ways to solve the problem:
- Mount an extra drip. It will be fixed on the end of the frontal board and condensate will go along it, as well as melt water draining from the film. Moisture will get on the board itself, but in this case this is not so critical, and it can be processed in various ways to significantly increase the service life.
- Partially feed into the gutter. Where possible, the material is tucked into the gutter, and in places where it is difficult to carry out such a procedure, fixation is made along the edge of the windshield and the excess is cut off.
- Steps. In this case, the wooden elements should not be placed above the board forming the crate, as they will interfere with the collection of condensate and close the ventilation gap. In the best case, this will lead to a gradual accumulation of moisture, in the worst, to reduce the thermal insulation properties of the roofing cake.
Note that the size of the bar, which should go into the gutter by no more than 1/3, is also important. This is necessary so that water gets into the drain even with a strong crosswind, and the ventilation gap is protected from the ingress of snow. In the place where the bar will be above the level of the gutter, directly below it, you can put a strip of galvanized metal.
